Sick...
Started coughing since a long time ago, but on Thurs afternoon, I was coughing real bad and my voice became so nasal that it feels as if I'm whining all the time. -_-''' my colleagues asked me to take leave the next day lol. Woke up the next day with a nasty throat. After seeing the doctor, I went home and watched 'The King and The Clown' DVD, which Sherlyn had lent me. Despite being known for a film dubbed 'The Korean Version of Brokeback Mountain', this film actually has much depth and traces back to the root of a deformation of one's character, which is in this case, the Emperor of Chosun Dynasty. Though there were some shonen-ai (Wiki the phrase if you do not know wat it means) scenes, the story largely centers around the mockery of the king, and the consequences those jesters have to face, as the story spirals into a series of unpredictable choices, actions and responses. It's a flurry of emotions which welled inside me, as I try to understand the psyche of the three main leads, minus the concubine character, Nok Sul. Simply put, it's a rival between two guys snatching for the affection of an effeminate guy, which angered the concubine. Take a closer look at it, you'll see more than just attraction, but trauma that accompanies, and the pain of not being able to be free, and the definition of freedom to each character. The film gives equal focus and depth to the three main leads. I give credit to the director for subtly portraying Gong-il's character. Without having to show a lot, Gong-il's character shows itself as a delicate male, with regrets and strong emotions for his beloved. Poor Gong-il has to be the cause of everything, that results in death and destruction. Like a torture soul, indeed. Yep, and I'm glad to catch up on sleep these two days. I woke up feeling really refreshed and helped my mum with the household chores. Getting ready for church now, my friend is bringing a few of his students for THX: The Holy Spirit Experience. It's gonna be exciting! *^^* excited de rei. |
